TAMPA, Fla. – Ronde Barber has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 3. This marks the ninth time (including postseason) that the veteran Tampa Bay cornerback has earned a player of the week award. That’s the most ever for a Tampa Bay player.
Barber earned this award by making four tackles (one for a loss), a fumble recovery, an interception and being credited with five passes defended in Sunday’s 16-13 victory over Atlanta. The interception was the 41st of Barber’s career and that’s a team record. Barber also made his 186th consecutive start, which is the longest current streak in the league.
