Former Oakland Raiders CEO, Known as the ’Princess of Darkness,’ Joins Front Office of New Professional 3-on-3 Basketball League Tipping off June 25 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY

(NEW YORK, NY) April 11, 2017 – The BIG3, the highly anticipated professional 3-on-3 basketball league, which will be broadcast on Fox Sports FS1 and FOX this summer, announced today that longtime and well-respected sports executive Amy Trask will join the league as CEO. A pioneer in the sports industry, Trask will be involved with the new league’s business operations and work in conjunction with fellow partners President & Commissioner Roger Mason Jr. and league Co-Founders producer, actor and music legend Ice Cube and entertainment executive Jeff Kwatinetz.

“Ice Cube, Jeff Kwatinetz and Roger Mason, Jr. have created a truly innovative league that has already generated much anticipation and excitement from basketball fans,” said Trask. “This is a tremendously exciting opportunity to work with some sensational people and create something unique. The BIG3 shares many qualities with the Raiders - they’re both bold and exciting, with their own brand of attitude.”

Trask, worked with the Raiders for almost 30 years, serving as CEO from 1997 to 2013. In her role, she was involved in all non-football business matters and operations for the team, including team representation at league meetings. She joined the Raiders as an intern while she was still a law school student in 1983, and worked her way up to become the NFL’s first female front-office executive. She is the author of You Negotiate Like a Girl: Reflections on a Career in the National Football League and serves on the board of directors for Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation and the advisory board of the Los Angeles Sports and Entertainment Commission. She is currently a football analyst for CBS Sports Network and will remain with the Network in that role.

“Everyone knows I’m a die-hard Raiders fan and over the course of my years I’ve gotten to know Amy through the team and know she’s the perfect person to round out our leadership team,” said Ice Cube. “She’s one of the most impressive people I’ve ever met. To excel in an environment like those Raiders teams shows me that she’s smart, daring and undaunted by challenges.”

Kwatinetz added, “I’ve known Amy for more than two decades. When we thought about who would be right to help us lead this league through the inaugural season and beyond, we couldn’t have found a better, more qualified person than Amy. She was widely regarded as the most powerful female in the world of sports and her experience and leadership is unsurpassed. She has the vision and drive that will help the BIG3 tap its enormous potential and establish it as a premier basketball league.”

Trask comes to the BIG3 fresh off the announcement of the league’s broadcast partnership with Fox Sports, which will air games in a two-hour package on Monday nights in primetime beginning June 26. The league will tip off on June 25 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. and run for ten consecutive weeks.

“I am thrilled to welcome Amy to the BIG3 family," said Commissioner & President Roger Mason Jr. "Amy is a proven trailblazer in the sports industry. I'm excited to stand shoulder to shoulder with her and lead our league to tremendous success.

The BIG3 will bring exhilarating 3-on-3 basketball played by some of the game’s biggest stars to a different city each weekend this summer. All four games will take place on the same day in the same venue, so that fans will be able to see their favorite NBA superstars at one time.

The BIG3 boasts an impressive roster of basketball superstars headlined by player captains Allen Iverson, Kenyon Martin, Chauncey Billups, Jason Williams, Rashard Lewis, Jermaine O’Neal, Stephen Jackson, Corey Maggette, and Mike Bibby. The coaching lineup includes Julius “Dr. J” Erving, Charles Oakley, George Gervin and Gary Payton, among others.
