MAXX Signs John Tortorella
Maxx Sports & Entertainment has signed ESPN hockey analyst and former NHL coach John Tortorella for broadcast representation.
Tortorella, who has coached the New York Rangers, Vancouver Canucks and Tampa Bay Lightning, will be represented by agency president Mark Lepselter and vice president Michael Klein.
Tortorella coached the Lightning to a Stanley Cup championship in 2004. He was not previously represented for broadcast work.
“We have been pursuing him for several years,” Lepselter said. “He has been working with ESPN on this year’s playoffs, and we are going to look for things for him going forward.”
Lepselter said he wanted to sign Tortorella as a broadcast client because he thinks he has a lot of potential on air. “He’s got a lot of credibility,” Lepselter said. “He’s known for being a fiery guy. He’s a colorful individual.”
Lepselter also represents NBC hockey analyst Jeremy Roenick, a former NHL player.
