Odell Beckham Jr. to get weekly radio gig on ESPN 98.7 in New York

Odell Beckham Jr., the New York Giants wide receiver whose brilliant 2014 campaign earned him NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors, will be a weekly guest this season on "The Michael Kay Show" on ESPN radio 98.7 FM in New York.

Beckham will join Kay and co-host Don LaGreca every Thursday beginning Sept. 3 and for as long as the Giants' season continues.

Entering his second season as a Giant, Beckham is already one of the biggest stars in the New York market and in the NFL. He caught 91 passes for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2014, in spite of missing the first four games of the season with a hamstring injury. He rubbed elbows with LeBron James, played in the Pro Bowl, won Offensive Rookie of the Year and was recently chosen in a fan vote to appear on the cover of EA Sports' "Madden '16" video game.

"I'm excited that I will have a weekly platform to talk Giants football and give the fans some perspective from inside the locker room," Beckham said.

During this coming season, Beckham will yak it up on ESPN NY 98.7 FM in his first very own weekly radio spot.

“He’s an A-list name, certainly here in New York and certainly around the country,’’ said Mark Lepselter, founder of MAXX Sports & Entertainment, who did Beckham’s deal with ESPN. “He’s extremely high-profile, obviously. We had multiple suitors for this particular area, both major stations here in New York wanted to work with him.’’

Lepselter represents several former athletes, striking media deals for Tiki and Ronde Barber, Rodney Harrison, Bart Scott, Donovan McNabb, Raul Ibanez and former NFL official Mike Pereira. Lepselter was introduced to Beckham by Zeke Sandhu, who handles Beckham’s NFL contract. Lepselter previously worked deals for Beckham with Fox and NBC during the playoffs and Super Bowl.
